laumkon
laumkon is an artist duo composed of Qrator and Jee Song. βlaumkonβ is a coined term used during a state of Wernickeβs aphasia, intended to mean βto brush oneβs teeth,β carrying an experience of misalignment between language and sensation.
laumkon explores ways in which different bodies are connected and move together through drawing, inclusive design, performance, video, interactive installation, wearable objects, and archival practices. Each body is approached not as an independent structure, but as a relational configuration that leans, is supported, and continuously recalibrates through instability.
Processes of coordinating movement while walking at different speeds, experiments with one-handed objects without external assistance, and language and sound entangled through error and failure emerge from everyday situations as core elements of the practice. Two bodies pull and adjust each otherβs rhythms; instability in one body is transmitted into the other. Within this process, delay, friction, error, and repetition are not treated as failures to be eliminated, but as conditions through which connection is formed.
Recently, laumkon has expanded its sensorially connected bodily movements into unstable sculptural configurations, where movement, balance, and support are constantly negotiated. The work constructs continuously revised and recalibrated states of connection between body and language, movement and environment.
